Jacque's Bubble Day

Every little dog needs a 'Bubble Day" come share Jacque's (with permission of Mom and Dad)

The Bubble Mobile has just pulled up...

The day begins with Jacque on the table for evaluation, are there any mats in this coat? Well, if there are, we'll deal with them in the tub, no I don't do dry-brushing, it damages coat and can be painful.

Does Jacque look like he's just about done?  Yep, last rinse out. (I'm sure he's thinking "well about time!") A Bubble Bath is a multi-part experience.  The bubble stuff is applied in a pulsating stream.  The  BlueBerry Facial is then applied to scrub the face, and make it small so yummy!  Rinsing is done between each step.  Each time the tub is refilled with clean water and product is applied to the water, diluting and mixing  as it goes...think dish-washer, for water and shampoo, conditioner or whatever, this is a recirculating system,

(in studies done at the University of Georgia the recirculating bathing system has proven to be  beneficial in reducing skin problems ...)

The rinse process is repeated several times, along with the right conditioners and magic bubble solution to de-tangle mats and aid in brush-outs, we are ready for the next step.

How does a Bichon get fluffy?  Well once we do the mummy-wrap in the towel, we use the stand dryer to fluff dry.  Yes we sometimes use the High-velocity dryer to blow water off the coat, good fluff drying requires brushing under a warm air  dryer.  With the dryer helping to separate coat, de-tangling is a snap, and not painful at all.

I also use special tools to lift and separate the coat, my Les Pooches brushes are designed with comfort in mind and a good wide tooth comb is always a help.

The Bubble Mobile is equipped with the newest technology, an iVac, a special clipper that allows the cut hair to be vacuumed up as it's cut.  This helps keep the air cleaner (no breathing in cut hair particles for groomer or pet) and makes for a cleaner environment (no hair on the table, floor, etc.)  I also use the new stainless-steel snap-on combs to set length , in this case Jacque get a 1 inch for the body and a 2 inch for the leg.  This helps keep everything the same set lengths, and aids in faster finishing when it comes to scissoring which means less time having to stand still.

Groomers use a wide variety of shears, unlike Hairdressers, we use shears that can be 10 inches long and curved, with or with out teeth!  Scissoring is the final touch for many dogs.

With the body done, it's time to set the eye's for that very special "LOOK" that is a Bichon.  I use my small curved shears, to open and reveal them under that cute little 'ledge' of hair that appears to fall over them...

With the classic "triangle" (nose and two eyes) we are ready to shape the face...

Keeping the ears in the circle of the headpiece is the "today" look for Bichons, unlike many years back when they had the 'bell-shape' head.  Styles change, the shorter jaw line and hidden ears are all part of the NEW look.

"Am I done? Oh Lookee!  Here comes Dad, he's in the front yard!..."

"Yes, Jacque, your Bubble Day is at an end, see you next time!"
